Abstract: Vietnam's economy has been significantly developing throughout the last decade. Besides that, the quick urbanisation poses a huge pressure on environmental management. Therefore, the proper alternative method of not only treat solid wastes but also energy production is a substantial concern. In this study, we conducted co-digestion of pig manure with fruit and vegetable wastes by using a two-phase anaerobic pilot plant. The two-phase anaerobic units were operated at the hydraulic retention times of 5 and 20 days for acidogenesis and methanogenesis tanks, respectively. The two-phase anaerobic plant is designed from this research results to evaluate the application feasibility of co-digestion of pig manure with the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) in Vietnam. The capital investment for this plant is estimated to be 4,587,200 US dollars. The payback period with and without calculating a rate of return of 6% is estimated at around 14 and 9 years, respectively.
