The roles of M2M technology on the realisation of Bandung Smart City

Abstract: One attempt to address problems in major cities is by implementing the concept of smart city through the utilisations of information and communication technology, such as machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions. This study aims to look at Ridwan Kamil's version of M2M programs and provides advice on what have been implemented as well as recommend other possibilities that can be implemented in the city of Bandung. The research method is qualitative descriptive using data from Ridwan Kamil's twitter, @ridwankamil, from 16 September 2013 until 31 July 2015. The results of this study show that there were 117 issues raised to Ridwan Kamil's twitter with 606 tweets in which smart environment is found to have the biggest number of popular issues (eight issues), but the issue of smart transportation has the highest number of tweets (176 tweets). Bandung has produced 329 applications and will continue growing to be used in all administrative offices both for public services and the internal performance improvements. The results of this study are expected to be an input for Ridwan Kamil in solving the problems being raised by many netizens via Twitter, by implementing effective and target-oriented M2M solutions according to the needs and priorities of the residents of Bandung City in particular and Bandung lovers generally.
