Abstract: The research on hydrocarbon accumulation rules for Tahe oilfield of Tarim basin is slightly stagnant, and even there is no unified and rational explanation about the oil generation and accumulation in such a basin with a high degree of evolution. This paper concludes that the accumulation of Tahe oilfield has experienced four stages, through cautious analysis of the tectonic evolution and hydrocarbon system analysis together with the simulation result of Quanty-modelling petroleum simulation system. More than hundred million years of regional tectonic movement which started at the end of Ordovician made the Ordovician uplifted and denudated, and formed the ancient weathering crust, which became a 'cold platform' and effectively avoided the rapid degradation of organic matter. The simulation could also indicate that the uplift of Shuntuoguole might be the main hydrocarbon generation centre, and the charging of Tahe oilfield after Indosinian belongs to the reservoir adjustment and redistribution hydrocarbon process.
