Abstract: This paper presents a second-order CIC compensation filter which is based on Jovanovic's grading technique. We have considered the simplest sharpening polynomial to improve the stop-band characteristic and the grading technique compensated for the pass-band characteristic. The main idea of improved CIC filter is based on the foundation of grading polynomial, and a double frequency compensating function to get nice frequency characteristic. The proposed wideband CIC filter has small attenuation with its main lobe bandwidth, and great attenuation with the side lobe. A number of demonstrated characteristics make the proposed structure a good candidate for Software Defined Radio (SDR) applications.
