Abstract: This paper presents a fast adaptive beamforming algorithm for CDMA wireless communications. The proposed algorithm is based on an array pattern synthesis technique and a simple Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation method. The former is to minimise the weighted squared errors between the achieved pattern and a reference pattern. The latter is to estimate DOA roughly with simplicity. Although there are some tiny errors during DOA estimation, the proposed algorithm provides a well-satisfied SINR performance as well as a fast convergence rate compared with the conventional beamforming algorithms with a low complexity. Simulation results are presented in various signal environments to show the superior performance of the proposed algorithm.
