Abstract: This paper presents the application of radial basis functions (RBFs) for solving a set of non-linear 2D Saint-Venant equations coupled with depth-averaged k ε model. We use the multiquadric RBF method which is a meshless collocation method with global basis function. The technique does not require the generation of a grid or any integral evaluation contrary to the most conventional methods used such as finite element method, finite volume method or finite difference method. The application of this method to a flow in a horizontal channel, taken as an experimental device, is presented. The results of computations are compared with experimental data and are found to be satisfactory. The proposed model and technique are then used to simulate the water flow circulation patterns in Lake Bouregreg located near the city of Rabat in Morocco.
