Abstract: According to design requirement of solid garage, the optimisation of the steel framework of solid garage is a multi-objective issue. In this paper, the optimisation algorithm based on genetic algorithm (GA) was studied. A Pareto GA was proposed to solve the multi-objective optimisation under constraints. The optimal characteristic was passed down by choosing the better individuals from the combination of the parent generation and the offspring generation. The flow chart about optimisation algorithm was carried out. The total weight of steel frame and total dynamic strain energy were objective functions. The multi-objective optimisation of the steel frame was carried out in terms of the corresponding design criterion and the actual engineering requirement. The result indicates that the above-mentioned multi-objective optimisation of the steel frame is feasible. The weight and the dynamic strain energy of the steel frame are decreased obviously.
