Special Issue on: "Innovation and Competitiveness: Enterprise, Industry and Country Perspectives"

Guest Editor:
Marzenna Anna Weresa, Warsaw School of Economics, Poland

The objective of this special issue is to present the most recent research into new approaches to innovation and their contribution to competitiveness at enterprise, regional and national levels.

The relationship between innovation and the competitiveness of enterprises, industries and countries is an important topic for both academic research and economic policy. However, over the past ten years we can observe a kind of paradigm shift in the way innovation is understood and interpreted.

Today, innovation cannot be limited the traditional set of product, process, organisational and marketing innovation implemented in enterprises. There are new forms of innovation, as the traditional concept has been extended to innovation in the public sector, social aspects of development or ecological innovations. In addition, the new paradigm of open innovation that has appeared as a result of collaborative efforts of different partners has also emerged. Therefore, the question arises of how these new forms of innovation contribute to competitiveness at enterprise, regional and national levels.

Given the above considerations, this special issue will focus on the relation between innovation and competitiveness and invites theoretical, empirical and policy-oriented contributions from all areas of the economics of innovation and competitiveness.

The issue will carry revised versions of selected papers presented at the World Economy Research Institute Conference "New Forms of Innovation and Their Impact on Competitiveness: Enterprise, Industry and Country Perspective", although we also strongly encourage other researchers who were unable to participate in the conference to submit articles for this call.
