Progress in Industrial Ecology, An International Journal
Special Issue on: "Renewable and Sustainable Energy Production and Use"
Prof Alan Brent, Stellenbosch University, South Africa
There is now reasonable consensus that dramatic change is required to avert climate change and realise the sustainable development agenda. While such dramatic change requires strong policy measures to modify energy technologies, across all sectors, it will also require policies that change the behaviour of the public, commerce and industry in relation to energy use.
This special issue focuses on renewable energy, as an alternative technology options, and energy efficiency, as demand-behaviour interventions, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the economy and thereby mitigate climate change, and contribute to sustainable development in different contexts. Policy-makers are specifically targeted for this special issue, to promote these options and interventions, as part of the industrial ecology agenda.Subject Coverage
