Abstract/Summary: Digital watermarking has, over the years, become a commonly known solution to control illegal distribution of copyrighted content. In this paper we present a simple and novel video watermarking method with a view of embedding large volumes of text data into the compressed video content without causing extensive visual degradation to the content. The proposed method supports the combined delivery mechanism wherein the rights object is bound with the content. There is no requirement of either the original video frame or a reference watermark in order to extract the embedded watermark. The method further facilitates control of degradation caused to video frames as result of the embedding process. The paper provides results to validate the efficiency of the proposed technique in terms of perceptual distortion using previously proposed distortion measures.
