Abstract/Summary: Provision of QoS aware services over heterogeneous fixed, wireless and ad-hoc all-IP networks is emerging. This is a 'multi-dimensional' problem that requires cross-layer information and control: both at the IP and the link layer. This paper proposes an efficient QoS scheme by handling of the SIP and the DiffServ mechanisms at the IP layer, and by utilising various back-off values, one per traffic class, at the ad-hoc network MAC layer. It is shown that for the IEEE 802.11, this can be achieved by modifying the Congestion Window value, based on the DiffServ traffic class information.
