Computational Intelligence (CI) is a derivative of artificial intelligence in which the emphasis is placed on heuristic algorithms such as fuzzy systems, neural networks and evolutionary computation. It involves iterative development or learning, is based on empirical data and is associated with non-symbolic AI, scruffy AI and soft computing. Computational Intelligence also encompasses elements of learning, adaptation, heuristic and meta-heuristic optimisation, as well as any hybrid methods which use a combination of one or more of these techniques. More recently, emerging areas such as artificial immune systems, Expert System, chaotic systems, and others, have been added to the range of Computational Intelligence techniques. The term ‘Soft Computing’ is sometimes used almost interchangeably with Computational Intelligence.

Computational Intelligence techniques have been successfully employed in a wide range of application areas, including decision support, generic clustering and classification, consumer electronic devices, stock market and other time-series prediction, combinatorial optimisation, medical, biomedical and bioinformatics problems, and many, many others. Although CI techniques are often inspired by nature, or imitate nature in some way, CI applications are not restricted to solving problems from nature.

We invite researches to submit their technical papers. We will select high-quality papers that pay attention to new methodologies to deal with the emerging problems. Specifically, papers must demonstrate substantial new contributions, and authors must explicitly indicate the scientific advances in artificial intelligence and soft computing.

The issue will carry revised and substantially extended versions of selected papers presented at the International Conference for Phoenixes on Emerging Current Trends in Engineering And Management (PECTEAM-2018), but we also strongly encourage researchers unable to participate in the conference to submit articles for this call.
