Abstract: Supplier selection is the process of finding the appropriate suppliers who can provide the buyer with the right quality products and/or services at the right price, in the right quantities, and at the right time. In this paper, a comprehensive overview of the literature on supplier selection criteria and supplier evaluation approaches is presented. More than 25 major production, manufacturing, operations management, and control journals published in 1995-2018 are reviewed. The literature review is divided into three fields, namely criteria in supplier selection, approaches in supplier selection, and a summary of the survey. This work emphasises the historical progression in these fields and offers the latest findings in this area in an attempt to make it easier for supply chain and logistics engineers to find a convenient principle or technique for supplier selection in various scenarios. Finally, future research directions are suggested.

Keywords: supply system management; supplier selection; supplier evaluation; supplier criteria.
