Abstract: In the contemporary scenario, manufacturing environment and changing customer demands call for quality of products and services. This product quality and attributes increasingly depends upon the organisation's competencies regarding infrastructural adequacies and abilities of organisation to manage its equipment and facilitate in proper manner. The present study involves investigation of 5S implementation in Indian manufacturing industries. A questionnaire survey has been conducted to evaluate the contribution of 5S in Indian manufacturing industries. The analysis has been conducted on 41 manufacturing industries. This study develops an understanding of contribution of 5S initiatives toward accruing manufacturing performance enhancements in Indian manufacturing industries. This study reveals that the overall organisation achievements are interconnected with achieving the results through 2S and quality improvements have strong linkage with adoption of 5S initiatives. The study highlights that various 5S implementation issues and achievements are closely related with each other.
