Abstract: Wireless recharge of electric vehicles is an important field of research. By means of tools used for modal analysis of vibrating systems, this paper proposes an innovative approach which is applied to the study of an inductive power (IPT) transfer system with series-series compensation. One of the main advantages of the proposed approach is the possibility of an intuitive physical interpretation. Another contribution of the work is definition of a new dimensionless parameter to optimise applied load with respect to efficiency issues. Numerical and experimental results confirm the validity and feasibility of the proposed approach.

Keywords: inductive power transfer; bondgraph approach; optimisation of vibrating systems.
