Abstract: This paper presents an holistic review of Business Process Management (BPM). It reviews the definitions of BPM, its philosophies, principles and benefits. It then conceptualises the major role of Information Technology (IT) in BPM, and reviews BPM relationship with strategic management and organisational structure. Finally, the paper discusses BPM tools, and BPM-related approaches such as process reengineering and benchmarking.
