Abstract: Surface integrity of the flat surfaces has become an inevitable part to perform specific functions. In some cases, a nano level surface finish and excellent geometrical accuracy are required in their applications. In this work, an attempt has been made to meet the challenges of the finishing of flat surface (2D) using electrochemical honing (ECH) process. A series of experimental runs were conducted on SS304 flat surfaces to analyse the effect of process parameters on the output measures. Results show that finishing time, electrolyte concentration, and voltage which had a significant effect on the output measures in terms of percentage improvement in average surface roughness (PIRa) and percentage improvement in flatness (PIF). The developed empirical model shows good agreement with the confirmation experiments. The SEM images showed that the processed surface gives the glazed appearance and zero tool feed marks.
