Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to reveal the population distribution pattern and socio-spatial structure of China's secondary metropolis. The global autocorrelation analysis and local autocorrelation analysis were used to explain the population distribution pattern of Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. The results showed spatial characteristics of spatial distribution of population in Suzhou were very significant, and positive correlation was evident, the shape of the population distribution of old city was 'HH' mode, Tong' an and Dongzhu town was 'LL' mode; The main social factors included floating population factor, the agricultural population factor, urban residential factor, the poverty factor of old central city, intellectuals factor and retired personnel factor. Urban social areas of Suzhou were divided into six areas, Social-spatial areas' differentiation of Suzhou was a significant circle structure, but some social-spatial areas were fan-shaped distribution and it was 'Circle + fan' structure model as a whole.
