Abstract: The indigenous tourism project developed at Aldeia Bananal, a community located in Brasília, Brazil, and composed of three ethnic Indian groups - Kariri-Xokó, Tuxá and Fulni-ô - was combined with educational tourism by bringing tourism graduation students to visit the community. The theory is mainly based on the concepts of staged authenticity for community empowerment, geotourism and ambience generation. It was applied the ethnographic method, which aimed at preparing and evaluating the visit in an indigenous context. Some conclusions taken for the community side were that they were at all times very positive towards the research; they spread their culture in a tense political moment - due to the pressure of real estate capital - and enhanced their cultural heritage, although not so much the environmental aspect. For the students the project created a unique contact with the indigenous group which led to a higher knowledge and valorisation of their culture.
