Abstract: Edutainment incorporates entertaining elements with the learning process. It is hoped that edutainment can attract and retain learners and motivate them to become more active in learning. Because many college students and young adults consider gaming an everyday part of life, educators and researchers have been working on developing computer games for educational and training purposes. Online edutainment will be even more desirable because it can reach a wider audience with better user management and monitoring. In this paper, we present a new edutainment training platform that is based on a Role-Playing Game (RPG) and is built with the Rich Internet Application (RIA) technologies. Our platform is different from other edutainment systems in the following aspects: our platform provides a unique game engine and a training administration module; it has a flexible reward system that the training administration can easily configure; it provides extensive management and monitoring functions for the management.
