Abstract: In the present analysis, the combustion, performance and emission of a waste cooking biodiesel fuelled diesel engine were compared with diesel at higher injection pressure. The experiments were performed at different loads and at 2000 rpm speed by varying the nozzle opening pressure. The injection pressure was increased from 225 bar to 235 bar. The start of combustion takes place earlier as the percentage of fuel blend ratio increases which is mainly due to shorter ignition delay. The maximum peak cylinder pressure was lower in biodiesel and its B20 blend. Improvement in brake specific fuel consumption and brake thermal efficiency was observed for B100 and B20 as compared to diesel fuel. CO, HC and smoke opacity were slightly decreased in case of biodiesel and its blend as nozzle opening pressure increases. The very small increase in NOx emission was observed for B100 and B20.
