Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is an emerging field which has enlarged the grasping attention from both the research area and authentic users. The risky facts relating to energy consumption reduction are determined; network lifespan can be prolonged to sensible times since sensor nodes are typically power constrained device. This work aims to contribute the development of an energy preservation technique based on active clustering rule for LEACH (ACR-LEACH) and a cyclic model called Cyclic LEACH. The proposed ACR-LEACH performs the choice of the cluster head (CH), detects the changing patterns, and disregards the redundant information. Cyclic LEACH detects the ideal nodes and performs the vague off which improvise the lifespan of the network. The experimental results shows that the proposed ACR and Cyclic LEACH protocol results better packet delivery ratio, throughput with lesser energy consumption and overhead than the existing LEACH and R-HEED protocols.

Keywords: active clustering rule; ACR-LEACH; cyclic model; cluster head; CH; cross layer approach.
