Abstract: The objective of the research was to identify significant variables in promoting the Ecuadorian software industry. A questionnaire was deployed to collect data. The questionnaire in closed loop form consists of questions related to the need of government intervention in order to promote software industry. The questionnaire was distributed to software industry management through the Survey Monkey website. There were 60 responses to the survey for a period of two months and 38 responses were valid to proceed for data analyses. Data analyses were performed using descriptive statistic and chi-square for hypotheses test. The result showed that government intervention on investment (two indicators), tax reduction, cost of promotion, skilled labour (four indicators), and export bureaucracy significantly will promote the software industry.
