Abstract: Organisations around the world are experiencing a major fundamental transformation in the ways they do business and relate with their customers, suppliers, and the rest of their stakeholders. As Internet-enabled changes necessitate new business models and business redefinitions, there exists an indispensable need to re-examine the notion of leadership in the web economy. To lead businesses effectively in such environment, today|s leaders have to embrace the concept and practice of distributed leadership, and develop required leadership competencies. Drawing on organisational leadership and e-commerce literature, this paper explores the necessary evolution of leadership.
