Abstract: The political efforts made by Romania to enter the European Union would have to be followed quickly by profound restructuring of the economy, in order to fulfil regulations. In order to have the full internal support for this complex and difficult process, university education and training has to introduce new degrees and topics to help the evolution of mentalities and professional attitudes. The present work is addressing one of the answers given by the Faculty of Industrial Chemistry in Bucharest: the creation in 1994 of the Economic Engineering in Chemical and Materials Industry specialisation.
