Abstract: With the prevalence of smart phones, people are relying more and more on smart phone facilities. However, smart phone users may suffer from what can be termed 'smart phone web-dependence anxiety' when they do not have internet access while going abroad. In this study, factors affecting such smart phone web-dependence anxiety are explored. A questionnaire method was applied and travellers were the respondents in the sample. The results found that technology characteristics have significantly impacted adoption interest and task-technology fit. Task characteristics have a significant impact on the task-technology fit, but not on individual capability. Adoption interest and task-technology fit have a significant impact on smart phone web-dependence. Furthermore, web-dependence loss moderates the relationship between web-dependence and web-dependence anxiety. The results can explain the factors affecting smart phone web-dependence anxiety for travellers. The results can be extended beyond travellers in further research on smart-phone web-dependence. The implications are discussed in this study.
