Abstract: The paper focuses on modern outdoor lighting design and control issues. Especially main drivers, being new materials such as LED technology are highlighted. It describes requirements for both design and control processes. Finally it gives an overview of highly scalable solution seamlessly and efficiently supporting them. The solution is based on decomposing formally represented information regarding control schemas into subproblems. These subproblems are covered by cooperating high-level and low-level agents working on high-end or low-end devices respectively, providing highly scalable control.
