Abstract: In the Netherlands, several studies have paid attention to the relationship between transport, the economy and the environment. This paper discusses and compares three studies on these subjects to identify the scientific innovation and its contribution to policy-making. The paper concludes that the scientific innovation is the common framework in which the three studies analysed the economic and environmental issues. The studies provide, although in a different manner, an indication of the effects of concrete policy decisions. These are typical examples of scientific innovation and its contribution to policy making on transport.
Keywords: transport; environment; economy; policy-making; scientific innovation.
