Abstract: A newly improved structure of multilevel inverter based on subordinate units for single phase seven level inverter is presented. This paper emphasis on analysing performance characteristics of novel multilevel inverter with reduced number of switches. The symmetrical reduced switch multilevel inverter is triggered by newly proposed modulation strategy termed as hybrid carrier pulse width modulation strategy and attempts to demonstrate the parameters such as THD, VRMS and distortion factor using MATLAB SIMULINK and proposed strategy implemented as a prototype by FPGA.
