Abstract: Innovation outsourcing is a phenomenon that is gaining increasing interest amongst both practitioners and academics alike. Despite this there does not exist a comprehensive study which identifies the status of knowledge within this domain. This study aims to fill this gap. The extant literature is reviewed and analysed to define a baseline of existing research and to guide further research. This review aims to address the questions of what is innovation outsourcing, the significance of innovation outsourcing and the key issues associated with innovation outsourcing.

Keywords: innovation outsourcing; outsourcing methodology; literature review.
