Abstract: The subprime mortgage crisis came to the public's attention with the decline of house prices in 2006 revealing the importance of financial risk management. Many experts and economists believe it came by a combination of factors in both housing and credit markets, which emerged over a number of years. In this paper, we present the structure and management of financial risk, and explain the origins and effects of the US housing mortgage crisis in 2007. Moreover, we examine the evolution of the US home mortgage market during and after crisis.
