Abstract: The dispersion of AgSnO2 contact materials could be improved by using silver coated SnO2 particles as the starting powders in the powder metallurgy (P/M) process. For that purpose, nanosized SnO2 particles covered with silver coatings were prepared through chemical plating in this study, and the stability of the chemical plating solution and the uniformity of silver coatings were studied. The results showed that by dropping reduction fluids into ammoniacal silver solution, the self-decomposition of the electroless plating bath were completely inhibited, and by adjusting the dropping speed, the uniformity of silver coatings on SnO2 particles could be improved relatively.
