Abstract: This study aims to investigate the role of gender as a moderator in job involvement and Organisational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) relationship. In the proposed model, job involvement influences OCB and five other dimensions: altruism, civic virtue, conscientiousness, courtesy and sportsmanship. A sample of 272 Indian executives is collected through the Management Development Programs (MDPs) in 12 organisations. Convergent and discriminant validities (Bonferroni method) are checked. Steps proposed by Byrne are followed to test for the moderation effect with path coefficients and subgroup analyses. Moderation test reveals that the influence of job involvement on altruism is higher in females compared to males, while the influence of job involvement on civic virtue, conscientiousness, courtesy and overall OCB is found stronger in males than in females. However, the influence of job involvement on sportsmanship is similar between males and females. The findings along with implications and future scopes are discussed.
