Abstract: The accelerating pump is one of the most important components adopted in hydraulic type wind power system. In order to investigate the characteristics of cycloid gear pump which is used as an accelerating pump, a flow mathematical model was established in the conditions of low speed. We found that the main parameters that affect flow pulsation of the cycloid gear pump mainly are tooth numbers, generation index and arc radius index. Meanwhile, the tooth numbers, centre distance and generation index of the cycloid gear pump basically has the same rules on the pump displacement and the rate of pulsation in the case of low-speed rotation, i.e., pump displacement rises approximately linear with the increase of these three parameters, while the rate of the pump pulsation decrease exponentially. However, the arc radius index has an opposite effect on the displacement and rate of pulsation.
