Abstract:

It is the usual policy of Inderscience to retract from publication any paper if, subsequent to publication, it becomes a matter of dispute about intellectual property, publishing ethics or legal issues. Each case is judged on individual circumstances. In this case, the author asks that this paper be removed from the journal because he acknowledges that he has used the contents of his student's report on "Mechanism of failure in thin plates with varied thickness and defect orientation", which was submitted to the Department of Studies in Industrial and Production Engineering, University B. D. T College of Engineering, Davangere, in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of the degree of Master of Technology in Production Engineering Systems Technology, in 2011. This paper has therefore been retracted.
