Abstract: This paper develops an evaluation model based on failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP), to help the maintenance person for assessing the risk priority of the critical components in the paper industry to provide timely maintenance. Traditional FMEA determines risk priority number (RPN) by multiplying the scores of three factors. However the scores which are computed through traditional FMEA do not considere relative importance of the factors. The FAHP is used to compute the relative weights of the decision factors. A numerical example is used to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed model.
