Abstract: India had made considerable development in the field of e-governance. Punjab is one of the leading states that took the initiative to provide basic government services to the people through e-governance project called single user-friendly window disposal helpline for applicants (SUWIDHA). This paper is an attempt to examine the effectiveness of SUWIDHA project. The study identifies the factors that affect the working of SUWIDHA centres and also examines the satisfaction level of the respondents in this regard. Three hundred and forty-five citizens belonging to diverse regions of the Punjab state selected randomly form the sample. The collective opinions of the respondents have been analysed using appropriate statistical tools for meaningful interpretation to reach at the conclusions. On the basis of results drawn from the study, certain suggestions have been made to improve the working of these centres, which would facilitate better e-governance development and its effective implementation.
