Abstract: This paper describes a programming support environment for the development of distributed processing applications. A key feature of this work is the inclusion of the object paradigm to provide needed abstraction in the design and implementation of distributed systems. Another is the use of compiled object languages for performance considerations. A graphical representation is employed to allow a visual presentation of object interaction and resource requirements. The system utilises a hierarchy of objects to represent interacting processes and processing elements. Other issues of name space binding, message-passing mechanisms, data marshalling, and run-time support are also discussed.
