Abstract: Economists and socialists have traditionally created and maintained their databases on secondary storage devices in the form of |flat| files with accompanying integrity and redundancy problems. This paper presents an alternative methodology, the Entity-Relationship model, which circumvents many of these problems and provides the researcher with a technique that more effectively creates and stores data.
Keywords: database management systems; DBMS; database processing; entity-relationship model; normalisation; socio-economic data sets; data storage.
