Abstract: The techniques for solving linear dynamic problems with the finite-element method are presented. A survey of the basic calculation methods is given. The application of these methods is demonstrated with some practical examples. Special attention is paid to the proper use of the finite-element method in structural dynamics.

Keywords: application examples; dynamic loads; finite element method; FEM; modal analysis; structural dynamics; linear dynamics.
