Abstract: In this paper the self-tuning pole-placement adaptive control theory is implemented to the PVMF, PFMV and PVMV type of hydrostatic transmission systems. A series of simulations and experiments are performed to investigate and compare the performances of above three types hydrostatic transmission system in the face of changes in load inertia, line pressure, pump speed and under the disturbance of external torque.

Keywords: hydrostatic transmission systems; self-tuning control; adaptive control; speed control; load inertia; line pressure; pump speed; pole placement; external torque.
