Abstract: Changing to a process based system offers many benefits, including increased competitiveness and reduced lead times. An examination of the different types of software method available and the differences between them was undertaken. This paper gives the readers with an awareness of a need for Business Process Reengineering (BPR), an overview of the various tools for implementing process redesign, available on the market today. Each method has its strengths and weaknesses, and therefore it is considered that no one software package as yet covers all the aspects of process redesign satisfactorily. The paper also identifies the characteristics of an ideal software package for process redesign. This tool concentrates on process identification, modelling and simulation.
