Abstract: This paper looks at the use of pre-cured one part polyurethane-based adhesives in the automotive construction industry. The various advantages of such adhesives are considered, including easy/safe handling and high strength. Pre-curing takes place in-line during processing. From the drum the adhesive gels to the hot-box with the same pump system as for I K polyurethane-processing. The partial cross linking occurs in the hot-box. The resultant medium-viscosity melt gets through the metering unit to the nozzle and is applied in hot state. Rapid cooling-down provides for the quick grab needed in assembly operation, and final strength is reached by humidity curing.
