Abstract: An investigation is made in this paper on the residual stress of the electrothermal expanded covering of Bus 97D manufactured by Yanbian Highway Bus Factory. In addition to an electrical stress measurement, several schemes of finite element analysis and computations are presented. The measured residual stress values are in close agreement with the finite element analysis, which shows that the finite element analysis schemes are practical and efficient in analysing residual stress in electrothermal expanded coverings.
