Abstract: The world|s bus manufacturers are dealing more and more with measurement and reducing exterior and interior noise of buses. This paper presents the experience of IKARUS Body and Coach Building Works. The international regulations generally specify requirement for a vehicle that is accelerating, consequently moving. These regulations require |laboratory circumstances| and a relatively long |proving ground|. It is not simple (sometimes impossible) to ensure these circumstances in the production line. Therefore we need a solution that gives relatively exact information about the condition of buses and can be inserted in the production line. The |antinoise station| can be built together with e.g. brake checking station. The results of the measurements can build a continuously increasing database for the designer. Reducing inside noise requires special material and special solutions. We show the solution that our test bus has some examples for local insulation, e.g. roof, floor and steps and the result of engine compartment capsule.
