Abstract: Theoretical and experimental boundary-layer results are presented for two car configurations. Boundary-layer computations reveal many details of flow development, and the agreement between selected measured and computed data is good. Separation patterns, the influence of the ground on the flow and the application of two-dimensional computation methods are studied; friction and pressure drag are estimated. Finally, the separation problem and the possibility of computing such flows are discussed.

Keywords: aerodynamics; boundary layer studies; pressure drag; separation patterns; vehicle design; friction.
