Abstract: A new reverse design approach based on the more appropriate algorithms and procedures from both photogrammetry and computer vision in combination with biologically based algorithms replicating the human vision process is presented. The integration of this novel approach with rapid prototyping is investigated through two historic buildings. The findings show that the geometric shape of an existing building can be easily captured and automatically reproduced in both virtual and physical ways.
