Abstract: In this paper an enhanced PI control strategy is proposed for an unstable angle of attack control system of a FOXTROT aircraft. The proposed PI controller is tuned using Interpolations, Tyreus-Luyben and Ziegler-Nichols techniques in the presence of disturbance. Various performance indices, settling time and overshoot are computed for different flight conditions of the aircraft to establish the best technique suitable for our plant to obtain accurate angle of attack as desired by the pilot.

Keywords: angle of attack; interpolation; Skogestad internal model control; SIMC; Tyreus-Luyben tuning; performance indices; PI control; aircraft flight conditions; performance evaluation; settling time; overshoot.
