Abstract: Present paper discusses applicability of fuzzy multicriterion decision making (MCDM) technique, namely, interval valued fuzzy TOPSIS (IVFT) for selection of suitable irrigation subsystems among 30 such subsystems of Khadakwasla Irrigation Project, India. Five performance evaluations related criterion, namely, participation and cooperation, effective water availability, conjunctive use, economic status and agricultural education are assessed subjectively using linguistic ratings. Extensive stakeholder's response survey is conducted in each subsystem, to obtain their opinion on various aspects of the project. Five perspective scenarios are developed, namely, water resources engineering, socioeconomic, administrative, academic and analytic. Relevant weighted payoff matrices so formed are used to rank the existing subsystems. It is found that proposed methodology can be used as a guiding mechanism for improving the existing subsystems.
