Title: Strategic group analysis of the flexible display industry using patent value depreciation model

Abstract: This research aims to propose a technological strategic group for the OLED flexible display industry based on the patent value of material, process and equipment technologies using a patent value depreciation model. Six companies were selected as research targets and the technological life cycle was analysed using patent information to calculate the technology intensity factor and patent value depreciation factor. The results reveal that six selected companies can be divided into three strategic groups based on their adjusted patent value in three OLED technologies, respectively. Different technological strategies are also suggested in each group depending upon the corresponding technological capabilities and patent portfolio.
